Traditional Film in Hospital Family Meeting in Berlin

During this year’s Berlin International Film Festival, the Film in Hospital partners gathered for their traditional “family meeting” on February 17th to celebrate past achievements and design the future of the network.

Reflecting on 2024–2026: A Journey of Growth

The first part of the meeting was dedicated to evaluating our recent project cycle. Partners presented key results, highlighting the successful expansion of film programs in hospitals—ranging from on-site screenings and workshops to innovative digital tools. This knowledge transfer session reaffirmed the strength of our network in improving the well-being of hospitalized children through cinema.

Looking Ahead: Expanding to 12 Countries

The highlight of the meeting was the presentation of the 2026–2028 action plan. We are thrilled to welcome new associated partners, bringing our coalition to a total of 12 European countries. To ensure high-quality implementation, we have established a new mentoring structure where experienced member countries will guide new partners in bringing film culture to young patients.

Special Thanks and Next Stop: Zagreb!

We extend our gratitude to our German partner, SCHLiNGEL – International Film Festival for Children and Young Audience, and its director Michael Harbauer, for hosting us within the Saxon State Representation in Berlin.

We are thrilled to announce that the next Film in Hospital family meeting will take place in Zagreb, Croatia, during the world’s second-oldest continuously running competitive animation festival – Animafest Zagreb! We look forward to welcoming our European partners to our home city and continuing our shared mission.
