Film in Hospital Strengthens Its European Visibility in 2025
Recognition, Policy Dialogue and Strategic Presentations
During 2025, the Film in Hospital initiative significantly expanded its visibility across Europe through a series of high-impact dissemination activities. From EU-level recognition, to participation in national policy discussions, to presenting our work within the EU’s own Culture and Health agenda, this year marked an important step in positioning Film in Hospital as a key European model in the field of culture and wellbeing.
EU recognition – Culture and Health: Time to Act
In 2025, Film in Hospital was included as a good practice in the EU report Culture and Health: Time to Act, published by the OMC expert group on culture and health. The report presents Film in Hospital as a model showing how cultural participation and film education can support the wellbeing of children and young people in healthcare settings across Europe.
Flemish round table on culture, health and wellbeing – Brussels, 2 July 2025
On 2 July 2025, our Belgian partner JEF presented Film in Hospital at a policy round table organised by the Flemish authorities on culture, health and wellbeing. The meeting gathered policymakers and sector representatives to discuss structural links between culture and healthcare, long‑term funding and cross‑sector cooperation, with Film in Hospital used as a concrete example of practice.
EU Work Plan for Culture – OMC Culture & Health meeting, Zagreb, 12–13 June 2025
Film in Hospital was presented at the 7th meeting of the OMC Working Group on Culture and Health, hosted by the Croatian Ministry of Culture and Media in Zagreb on 12–13 June 2025. The presentation focused on the emotional and educational role of film in paediatric care, digital access to European films and the contribution of Film in Hospital to EU priorities on culture, wellbeing and children’s rights.
Inspiration Day “AgoraEU & Creative Europe 2026” – Brussels, 17 October 2025
On 17 October 2025, Film in Hospital was featured at Inspiration Day in Brussels, organised by Creative Europe Desk Flanders and the Department of Culture, Youth and Media. In a session dedicated to health and wellbeing in Creative Europe applications, the project was presented as a mature, scalable model for integrating wellbeing themes and digital film education into future MEDIA projects
A Strong Dissemination Year for Film in Hospital
These four events together demonstrate significant growth of Film in Hospital’s presence in European cultural and policy spaces in 2025.
From EU-level recognition to shaping future cultural policies and supporting sector innovation, Film in Hospital continues to evolve into a strategic European model of cultural care, contributing actively to discussions on wellbeing, healthcare, cultural rights and children’s access to culture.
Upcoming Presentation “Cinema in Ospedale” – Bari, 17 December 2025
Upcoming on 17 December 2025, Film in Hospital will be presented during the conference School in Hospital and Home Education as a Right and Opportunity, organized by the University of Bari and the Regional Department of the Ministry of Education.
